~Y/N's POV~
I hate being a werewolf. Every single second it bites at me. The time and days slowly tick towards each month.
I feel helpless. I have to leave my friends behind me and lie to them, every month. Okay, I don't have to lie to them, but it's for their own good.
At least they aren't Animagi. I dodged that bullet. When I had seen Remus that morning I asked him how the boys had reacted and he said they were fine, and they weren't going to do try to do it. Thankfully those boys had at least some sense.
I made my way to my first class, Potions with Professor Slughorn, and felt the pit of dread in my stomach thinking about tonight.

I downed the potion, gagging at the taste as usual. I can't exactly pinpoint what it tastes like but I suppose the best way to describe it is rotten strawberries, expired milk, and eggs.
However, it works, and we're both safer with it.
We quickly make our way from the common room down to the shrieking shack, in a long journey. We probably had 30 more minutes before the transformation would really begin.
I was shaking, every time we stand outside the Whomping Willow the nerves get the best of me.

(TW: Graphic Description of Pain Up Ahead, feel free to skip to James' POV to skip it <3)
I screamed in pain as the transformation began. It was excruciating pain.
I can only imagine that this is what the cruciatus curse feels like. Seering pain across my body, like millions of knives stabbing me from all sides. I watched as my skin changed before my eyes.
I never feel as if I'm "changing," it feels like my skin and the rest of my body are being ripped open, and the werewolf is then realised.
Tears streamed down my cheeks, and I bit my tongue to stop myself from screaming out in pain.
I looked around, a new smell filled my nostrils. I had only just realised how hungry I was. When had I last eaten? It felt like forever.
Whatever it was, it smelt good. I moved towards the smell, the only thing hindering me from getting to it was this wall. It might be out of wood but I know there are spells on it to keep me from leaving.
Some spells won't stop me. My claws begin to dig into the wood, trying to tear it apart.
Hours pass, and the smell isn't gone.
I won't give up, I need to eat.
I continue clawing, scratching, screaming in anger. The wood won't budge.
I looked down at myself.
The claws on my hands are sharp and deadly, it would make it easy to tear apart this wood if it wasn't for the spells. It would make it easy to tear apart any prey too. To rip the animal or anything, apart.
My skin had turned a ghastly grey colour and it was covered in unconstant patches of rough, matted fur. The fur was the same colour as my hair.
I only had to stay here for a bit longer before I would be safe to leave, and I would transform back.
I howled loudly, enough to terrify any prey nearby.
~James POV~
I was a stag.
Sirius was a black matted dog, and Peter was a rat.
The transformation had worked perfectly, and thankfully nobody was a half-human half-animal hybrid. I didn't think it would go wrong, but part of me was worried.
Remus had told us that this first night as Animagi we should just wait and watch so that if anything went wrong with our transformations there wouldn't be an issue.
N/N had said she felt sick and was going to stay back tonight. Which was lucky for us, otherwise she would have seen that we became Animagi anyways. I wish she could have become one with us, it would have been a lot more fun that way, but I suppose it's okay.
Then, I saw the door open, and Remus comes out. (a/n finally. surely that closet was uncomfy moony JJFHKJHD) I also saw another girl, but only her silhouette. I couldn't see any of her features, I'm not even certain it was a girl.
We made our way back over to the castle. We had seen Remus' transformation through a window. There was only one window, however.
It was terrifying. Its eyes were yellow, his body hunched over and his teeth, horrifyingly sharp. As much as I don't want to be a wuss, I was kind of glad that Remus told us to watch. I know he took his potion, which means he doesn't want to kill us, but if you saw a werewolf stare at you through a window I doubt you'd want to go play with it as a stag, rat or dog.
But, it was kinda badass.
We met Remus on the way back from the castle, no longer with whoever he was with before.
"Who was that before, Remus?" I asked, confused.
"Who?" Remus said looking... worried?
"The person who came out of there with you," I replied.
"Oh uhm.. her.. she's another werewolf who.. goes to the school," He said slowly.
"Who?" Sirius asked.
"I- uhm... You wouldn't know her.." And with that, he scurried off towards the Common Room.
"That was weird," Peter commented.
"Very."
~Y/N's POV~
I said goodbye to Remus and made my way to the secret passageway. Remus and I always used to use it, but now he doesn't need to. He walked off towards the castle and I have to admit, I was slightly envious that he could do that, and wouldn't have to walk through the dingy and disgusting cave to get to the Common Room.
I hurried through the dark passage as quick as I could. I had told the boys I was sick, so I needed to be back before them. They told me they were going out to play some "late-night Quidditch," of course I wasn't dumb enough to believe them but I figured for just this once I'd let them do their little shenanigans. As a thank you for not becoming Animagi.
You'd think that the boys would notice that Remus and I disappear once a month, but they didn't. I have a whole list of excuses laid out. But, now that they know when the full moon is they may start to connect the dots and realise that I'm never here when Remus is gone.
I open the door that leads to the common room. It's completely empty. Makes sense, since it's 4 AM on a Wednesday.
I run over to the couch and pick up the first magazine I see. "Witch Weekly," is the closest one to me. I jump on the red plush couch and lay down, pretending to read the magazine.
The portrait door opens and the four laughing boys come in. I wave to them and smile.
The other Marauders sit on the couch beside me.
I feel so horrible lying to them, but I'll tell them eventually, but tonight isn't that night.
We laugh for a while until we decide to go to bed. I bid them ado and sneak into my dorm quietly.
My dormmates are Lily Evans and Dorcas Meadowes. I don't really know either of them. I've never gotten along well with Dorcas, but Lily's always been kind. We don't really speak to each other. Besides, the only times we see each other are in class, and when we sleep.
I put on my pyjamas and snuggle into bed.
